An exploration of a wide variety of films that touch on spiritual themes and demonstrate how the Kingdom of God breaks into human life in the most unexpected ways! Folks should come prepared to talk, drifting over after church with something to put on the table. We’ll use paper plates and we’ll sit inside or out as weather invites.

Living the Questions 2
led by Jim Downward

The Living the Questions study group concludes the year with a 7-week block exploring our “Call to Covenant” with God. The group will explore topics including: A Kingdom without Walls, Social Justice: Realizing God’s Vision, Incarnation: Divinely Human, Prayer: Intimacy with God, Embracing Mystery, Compassion: The Heart of Jesus’ Ministry, and Creativity & Transformation. Newcomers to the group are welcome. Comfortable chairs, good company, lively discussions, tea and cookies, and an opportunity for deepening our relationships with God and each other will be provided.

Voluntary Simplicity

Stressed out? Overrun by commitments and demands on your time? Possessed by your own possessions? Join us for six weeks of exploration of the idea of living more simply—and more richly. Could this be a way of living into the Kingdom of God? Topics to be covered include: The Meaning of Simplicity; Living More with Less; Your Money or Your Life; Do You Have the Time?; How Much Is Enough?; Swimming Against the Tide; The Practice of Simplicity. Living with Money

When Jesus talked about the Kingdom of God, he talked more about money than love. And for good reason: money permeates our world. How do we discern the power and impact of money on our lives? How do we keep money from shaping our every decision? How much money is enough for us? What are our personal values about money? What does the Bible say about it? Living with Money explores these and other questions, and helps participants achieve a balanced and wholesome money life. The four video segments: What Is Money?; Know Your Money Life; Making Peace with Money; Balancing Life’s Ledger. Book cost: $10.

A presentation brought to us by the Junior League of Ann Arbor and the Center for the Child and the Family at the University of Michigan, designed to help parents and girls cope with relational aggression.

“For the Bible Tells Me So”
Date: May 4
Time: 3:00 p.m.
Place: St. Clare’s Social Hall
“For the Bible Tells Me So,” an award-winning documentary, which reconciles homosexuality and Biblical scripture, reveals that religious anti-gay bias is based almost solely upon a misinterpretation of the Bible. The screening of the film will be followed by a reception and opportunity for small group discussion.
